Flamingos are funky, and chill all at the same time. I was inspired by their bright pink feathers and wanted to create something that would complement that aesthetic. Sassafras has a history of commissioning designers to create spunky and bright patterns and illustrations, whether it be on their musical instruments or their packaging for their kid’s products. My task for this project was no different.
For this design I wanted to create a party of colors. The flamingo, of course, needed to, look relaxed as he stood in his pond while all of the bright, punchy foliage surrounded him. I wanted the font to mimic the bold colors, but I didn’t want the style to take away from the party that’s going on below. So I chose a bold, but simple font to complement. Because of time constraints, I partnered with an illustrator to help illustrate the box. Tonia Tkach illustrated the busy folliage.
In the end, the work came out spectacular. Well, at least that’s what the VP of Sassafras said!
