What is a Brand Identity...

How can it work for you?

Think of your brand as a person. Are they friendly and firm or strong and bubbly? Does their style sense reflect the aesthetic from the 1960s or do they rock a modern and sleek look? Do they speak with a formal flare or an honest best friend attitude? Your brand needs to be approachable and realistic. Thinking of your brand as a person will help you understand how you can come across to your audience.

Your brand's identity is specifically about your visual aesthetic. How your brand looks can either invite people in, intimidate, or even worse, be skipped over completely. As a designer, it is my job to work with you to create your brand's style and help you make a great first impression on your clients. After all, great design sells.

Let's talk.

My Process

From a Mood Board to a fully executed Brand Identity

1.
First Contact

After your inquiry, I want to get to know you and what your branding needs are. We can hop on Skype, Google Hangouts, or I can give you good old fashioned call on the phone. Every business is different, so I definitely want to make sure my style will fit what you are looking for. I’ll give you the lowdown on what you should expect from me and how your needs will be met. After the call, I will send over a proposal and contract for your approval. Once you say yes, you’ll put in your deposit and I’ll put you in my calendar for another meeting to go through the next step.

2.
Research & Discovery

In our second meeting we will go over what your vision is for the look and feel for your brand. Depending on your package, I will ask you questions about your core market and what they gravitate to (your niche), your future plans/goals, how your website should cater to your customer base, and how you want to be seen in general. There are a lot of topics I want to hit before we move on, so I've built a questionnaire just for this step to make sure we talk about everything efficiently.

3.
BRainstorm & Conceptualize

This is my favorite part! Of course this all depends on how you answered your questionnaire, but this is the step is filled with curated mood boards, sketches and rendered concepts. During this step, your job is to be available via email to give me feedback on the screenshots I send to you. I always want to make sure I'm on target so we don't waste our time on something that won't work.

4.
Revise

This step is all about presentations. You get three major rounds of revisions. Regardless of what I am designing, this step is the same for each element in your package. I will present to you what I think would be most beneficial for your brand and give you my research to back it up. At this point you can tell me what you think can be improved on and what we need to keep. This way, the next round of revisions can be focused on just those changes. If for what ever reason you want more rounds or want to see new options, we can talk about pricing and how the timeline will change.

5.
Finalize & Deliver

Once we both agree that what we created together is exactly what you need and want (and you paid your final invoice), then I will move on to finalize everything. All this means is that I'm preparing files for delivery and adding the finishing touches to your style guide. After I am done I will send you a secured link to your folder in Google Drive with everything in it. We will go through your style guide so you know what tips and tutorials are available to you. If your package comes with a website, you get the bonus tour! I will show you how to add new and edit content through your backend. If you had a CMS added then it should be a breeze!

Now we are done and you can go off and do what you do best!
But now with your own professional brand!

I love what I do, but my style isn't for everyone.

We could be a great team if:

You need branding visuals that illustrate the business you are building and added flexibility when your business grows.

You know that your company deserves more than just a simple logo to express its identity.

You want to stop wasting time (and money) and work with someone who get's to the point with out all of the fluff and suprise costs.

You acknowledge that unique, intentional design and cohesive branding will attract your ideal customers.

You want to look professional and be a memorable brand.

You like the idea of using illustrative design to complements your products or services.

Does any of these scenarios fit you? If so, let's create something wild for your brand or products!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
How can we get started?
A.

You can always send me a message here. Or if you're feeling spicy, send me a direct email to LetsTalk@RachelBC.com. I always answer with in 24 hours.

Q.
Can I up or downgrade my package?
A.

Anything you feel we should change before the signing of the contract is fine with me. It is extremely important that we are clear on what your expectations are during the time we work together. It's always smarter to start small and add later than to take away in the middle of it all.

Q.
What is a revision round?
A.

I consider a revision round to be a constructive list of feedback after a presentation. 3 rounds revisions are usually enough to get your set just right. If you need more rounds, you can always add it to your next invoice.

Q.
How do payments work?
A.

I like to keep it easy for both of us. You will make a 50% deposit to secure your spot in my calendar. Once everything is done, you will pay the last 50% of your balance before I hand over the final files. If you have a different payment structure that fits you better, let's talk about it. I use invoicing software that accepts credit, debit and echecks that is secure for both of us.

Q.
What do you expect from your clients?
A.

As my client, I need you to bring anything that will help explain your dream brand. Show me any photos you have of your business in action, printed or digital work like brochures or anything that makes your business unique. But the most important thing that you could do is to be available for questions and constructive critiques.

Q.
What is a supporting illustration used for?
A.

You can use them on your next ad campaign or build an info graphic with it. The whole purpose is to show off your brand visually when text alone doesn't cut it.
